Living in Ho Chi Minh City is really an amazing adventure. Ok, I could say that living in Vietnam is an adventure. But HCMC is just an incredible melting pot of cultures, nationalities and life styles. Wherever you look, you see Japaneses, Americans, Indians surrounded by Vietnameses, Chinese, Thai or even Scandinavians, Nigerians and French. And to me, this is one of the reasons why I like so much (so far) living here.
To give an exemple: the other day, thursday night, girls' night at Lush (one of the trendy places where to have a drink and where not to be alone more than 30 seconds when you are a guy). I went with my girlfriends to have fun: 1 japanese, 1 french and 4 vietnameses. But out of these 4 vietnameses, 1 has been living 25 years in the US, 1 20 years in germany and 1 speaks fluent french! Can anyone tell me where I could in France face the same situation ? Nowhere !
But being in a different country and facing different cultures is sometimes tough also. People do not always understand you, you don't always understand them and sometimes you just wish you would be sitting in your favorite chair at home, drinking your favorite drink and understanding 100% of what is going on. But that's not the case and you just have to settle down and adjust to the situation. And that's fun !!!
Have you ever faced anything like this on your side ?

Anyway, take care and remember : Carpe Diem my friend !
